He drove my family to Andong and Busan when he realized that it was inconvenient with our train itinerary, given that the UNESCO sites were a distance away from the nearest train stations. A place I will stay to experience traditional Hanok in Seoul, without an exorbitant price tag. 더 보기

Mr Lee was really accommodating and friendly. The same with his sister and his wife. The breakfast simple but satisfactory. We booked the family room and it has its own bathroom with washing machine in it. We really love staying here and absolutely will stay here again. Location - we took the limousine bus from airport and it will stop at the Anguk bus stop. Once you stepped down from the bus, go straight to your left until the traffic light at the big 4 junctions. you can see anguk subway exit 5. cross the road and walk to your right until you arrived at a school. just beside the school, there is an alley. go straight the alley until you see the sign of this hanok. it is also walking distance to bukchon hanok village and insadong. 더 보기

This place makes us feel like we are staying at a friend's home. It's not a typical commercial Hanok. The shared bathroom is very small but very clean. We had complimentary breakfast in the morning, it's simple but it's all we needed, toasts with peanut butter spread, eggs, yogurt and a pot of hot coffee. It's very near to the food and shopping area but not in the centre of it. Didn't have to climb hills to get to it either. 더 보기

Mr Lee was an awesome host. Our first night we arrived at 1am and he was there at our point of a arrival. Very quickly settled us down and made sure we had all we need before leaving us for the night. Next morning, when we woke up, we had a very simple breakfast, hard boiled eggs and toast but it was enough. Location of Hanok is good. About 15mins walk to Gyeongbok palace and it is near 2 stations, Anguk & Jongno3(Sam)-ga station. So traveling around was relatively easy. That said, our first night we took some time to find the place as our map was not detailed enough. So make sure you hold a map that shows the smaller streets. The night before we checked out, We were given a box tea from Mr Lee. Really sweet of him. On top of this, the morning that we were to check out, Mr Lee was very kind to call us to wake us up knowing that we had a morning flight to jeju. (He was not in the Hanok, called our mobile) He was afraid we overslept! Great place to stay for your stay in Seoul, reasonably priced and mr Lee's sister was also a great help being the housekeeper of the Hanok. Their level of English was also decent. 더 보기

Very nice place to Experince Korean Traditional House (Hanok) situated near to public transport (Subway, Shopping Place (In-sadong) and Attractions (Geongbukgung, gwhanghamun and bachon hanok village). It staff is friendly and very helpful. The only problem is to find this place because the signboard (in alphabetic) is not big enough. 더 보기

We were traveling with our 20 month old son, who was sick during the trip. The owner was very nice and even drove us around to find the stuff we need. The hostel is very close to the famous palaces and major shopping areas. Very good option to experience traditional Korean accommodation. 더 보기

This is a traditional Korean house with heated floor and a central court yard, but shared bathrooms. The owners (a couple) are very friendly; the husband's English is excellent. The breakfast is in the living room, which allows a chance to meet and talk with other international travelers. For example, I had very nice conversations with Japanese and Swede guests and the Korean host in a family environment. The location is excellent; it is only a street away from Insadong, where there are many restaurants, shops, and street performers. It is also walking distance to palaces. 더 보기

The Hanok (a traditional korean house) is perfectly located in Seoul Center. From there, you can reach every single Tourist attraction by feet, also restaurants and convienience stores are very close. But definetly the best thing besides the whole style of the Hanok is its owner. A friendly architect, who takes his with you, shares his breakfast and speaks several different languages! It is an Homestay-accomodation, so you will have to share the living and of course the toilet facilities with other guests and the owner. But...this is usually no big deal and furthermore one part of the experience to stay at such a nice place! If you are looking for a different experience than a hotel...book it, you will enjoy it! 더 보기

i stayed during winter. the heating system in the room was good. the toilet was really quite chilly though. the owner was really helpful in many ways.. from booking nanta tickets for us to checking whether we were adequately clothed which we were not and he even went to the extent to lend us his jumper and coat for those few days.. 더 보기

I was searching for a place to stay overnight in Seoul near Seoul Station, and read positive reviews about Namhyundang Hanok. Although I arrived quite late, (well after midnight), and could not immediately find the Hanok, the owner escorted me to my room. The room itself was basic and compact, but quite warm and comfortable for 1 person. The bathroom/shower was outside the room...but warm, clean, and well-equipped. The Continental breakfast served in the Hanok's traditional dining room was pleasant. The guest house also features a seating area in the courtyard. Although located in a quite lively district of Seoul, the immediate area is as quiet as the countryside. If you are seeking an authentic traditional guest house experience in extremely close proximity to central Seoul's main attractions, I would highly recommend the Namhyundang Hanok--particularly in the warmer months. I will definitely be returning! 더 보기

We stayed at Namhyungdang for 2 nights. It is very difficult to find--we had to call the owner after searching for an hour very late at night (we asked many people, but all of them led us in different directions). The owner was great! Very friendly and obliging. He came out to meet us and guide us to his house, and prepared the rooms for us. The bathroom is separate (as in most traditional inns). Breakfast was included--a western breakfast of toast and jam and coffee and yogurt. The hotel has a great location (once you find it) between Bukchon and Insadong. Very close to the main tourist sights in Seoul. We had a great stay and recommend it! 더 보기

Very happy with our stay. Provide a very good experience. Mr Lee goes out of his way to make sure that we are comfortable. Make sure you get good directions to the hotel before you go as it is located in small alley and most people would not be able to guide you even with the address. Took us some time before we manage to find it. 더 보기

Hanok guest house is an old house, more than 100 years following the actual landlord. own by a sister and brother, they are very nice people, open mind and they like to discuss about everything. we like this kind of original house, few of them are still "surviving" in this concrete jungle. Of course do not expect a 5* standard. Sleep in wooden house, on the floor with tradditional futon (similar to japanese one), nice and simple breakfast in the patio if the weather is nice. we loved it. 더 보기

The owner were very helpful & attentive to my last minute booking. He came to meet me at the other hanok as to confirm my query personally. He was ready to transfer our bags with his small car. My husband went with him and check up the room that we book are enought for 5 of us. Our kids are 11,9 & 5. So, we were nicely fix into the master bedroom with toilet! 더 보기

This is my first time staying in Hanok, overall, it was a great experience for a short 3 nights stay. We are grateful to the owner, Mr Lee, who are very helpful and goes the extra mile in providing a warmth and homely stay. Location is great with the nearby attractions(Bukchon village, Palaces), good food and less than 10 minutes to Anguk station. The only drawback is you may be able to hear guests talking in the next room and no lock to the room. 더 보기

This was my second time staying at Namhyundang Hanok and I can't imagine staying anywhere else on my next visit to Seoul. The owners truly make you feel like friends visiting their home rather than guests staying at a hotel. They will do anything to make both your stay with them and your visit to Seoul more enjoyable, including helping out with transportation and planning. They speak very good English, and I believe the gentleman speaks German as well. The Hanok can be tricky to find the first time, but the location is perfect. It's only a few minutes walk from Insa-dong, palaces and temples, and multiple Metro stations. This is the place to stay if you want an authentic hanok experience! 더 보기

My children and I enjoyed our stay in the family room which was warm and comfortable in its own unique Korean way. We appreciated the gentle hospitality of the owners and staff. This hanok homestay is a must for those who want to experience Korean culture. It added beautiful memories to our trip and we will definitely recommend this hanok to other travelers to Seoul. 더 보기

Our stay was excellent. The location is closer to the Insadong shopping street than most Hanoks, that are up near the palace in a hipster trendy area. Instead, we were near local restaurant and bars, between 2 metro stations providing access to four lines (including the one to Gimpo airport), and still close enough to walk to the hipster trendy area ;) 더 보기
